2011 The Argonaut

Sauvignon Blanc
North Coast, California

The Argonaut is an octopus with a shell. As bizarre as that sounds, in 300 B.C., Aristotle proposed that the female Argonaut used her shell as a boat and her eight arms to row it! Have no fear. Enjoying The Argonaut probably won't lead you to proposing any new theories about the natural world, but after a long day, you might still be tempted to contemplate the animal kingdom while savoring this refreshing Sauvignon Blanc, and maybe snacking on a ring, or two, of calamari!

The grapes for The Argonaut, are sourced from Ledgewood Creek Vineyard in Suisun Valley. The vineyard is sustainably farmed and has a Fish Friendly Farming certification. The grapes were destemmed and crushed to broken berries and then pressed into a stainless steel tank where it underwent a slow, cool fermentation.

The Argonaut has wonderful aromatics with hints of lemon and gooseberry. The crisp clean taste with a note of minerality on the finish leads to a perfectly balanced, refreshing white wine. The wine pairs well with seafood (dare we say Octopus!), cheese and a variety of lighter style dishes.

Enjoy now and over the next year.
